General Manager Jobs
A General Manager in the automotive industry principally oversees the daily operations of the company or dealership. Their responsibilities encompass various areas including sales, service, finance, and human resources. They implement policies, manage staff and resources, develop and execute strategic plans to meet business objectives, and liaise with stakeholders including manufacturers, customers, and suppliers. They are often in charge of financial management, including setting budgets, forecasting, and monitoring profit and loss. Moreover, they ensure the dealership or company adheres to industry regulations and standards.
Important skills for this position include leadership, interpersonal communication, strategic planning, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills. They should be well-versed in sales and customer service as well as possess financial acumen. Proficiency in the use of automotive dealership software is also a key requirement. As for certifications, a degree in Business Administration or Automotive Management can be beneficial. Professionals may also have certifications from the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) or similar organizations.
