Collision Appraiser Jobs in New York
A Collision Appraiser in the automotive industry is responsible for assessing the damage to vehicles following accidents or other instances of damage. Their role is to inspect the damaged vehicle, estimate the repair costs, and negotiate the claim settlement with the insurance company or the vehicle owner. They also work with automotive repair personnel to ensure the accurate execution of repairs. Hence, they play a critical role in the claim settlement process, serving as a link between the claimant, the insurance company, and the repair workshop.
To become a Collision Appraiser, an individual must have good knowledge of vehicle repair processes, excellent communication skills, and strong negotiation abilities. Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and a license from the state's Department of Insurance could be advantageous. Prior to stepping into this role, a person could have experience as an Automotive Repair Technician, Insurance Claim Adjuster, or even as an Automotive Parts Specialist. All these roles would equip the individual with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to estimate vehicle repair costs accurately and negotiate effectively.
