Automotive Paint Technician Jobs in Idaho

An Automotive Paint Technician, also known as an auto body painter, specializes in applying paint and finish to vehicles in an automotive company. They are responsible for performing color matching and mixing, surface preparation, applying primer, paint, and clear-coating. They also conduct final inspections, buffing and polishing the vehicle's surface, correcting any defects, ensuring quality and uniformity, and adhering to safety and environmental standards. The technician uses a variety of tools, such as spray guns, sanders, and brushes.

Prospective Automotive Paint Technicians should have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a post-secondary training program in auto body repair technology could be beneficial. They typically require a certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Important skills include attention to detail, dexterity, technical skills, and a good sense of color. Prior to becoming an Automotive Paint Technician, individuals may have roles such as Automotive Detailer, Body Shop Assistant, or Auto Body Repair Technician to gain experience in the field.
