Automotive Body Technician Jobs in New Hampshire

An Automotive Body Technician plays an integral role in the automotive industry by repairing damaged vehicle bodies and body parts, from minor dent removal and repair to full body restorations. They also reconstruct vehicle frames and align vehicles, restore corrosion protection and refinish vehicle bodies and body parts. They utilize their expertise with various tools, materials, and equipment, along with their keen eye for detail, to restore vehicles to their optimal condition. Skillful use of diagnostic tools and understanding the intricacies of vehicle structures are essential in this role, as well as a deep knowledge of various materials' repair processes.

Prior to becoming an Automotive Body Technician, one could hold roles such as an Auto Body Repair Apprentice, Automotive Paint Technician, or Automotive Body Shop Helper. These positions provide foundational skills and knowledge about vehicle structures and repair processes, as well as hands-on experience in a body shop environment. In terms of qualifications, a High School Diploma or GED is generally required, with many employers preferring candidates who have completed postsecondary training in automotive body repair. It is also crucial to have certifications from recognized bodies such as the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or I-CAR (Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair). These certifications showcase the technician's commitment to continuous learning and adherence to industry standards.
