The business was originally founded as Phil Young Automotive in 1969 by Phil Young, a skilled technician with nearly a decade of experience in the automotive industry in Chicago. His passion for cars and dedication to honest, quality service laid the foundation for a business built on craftsmanship and community trust and hire hjighly skilled, motivated professionals.

In 2002, Phil’s son Fred Young—who had worked in the family business since the 1970s—took over and renamed the business Young Automotive, Inc. Fred's career included technical education at MoTech Automotive School in Detroit, followed by hands-on roles in a Dodge dealership and automotive prototype development before returning to Sturgeon Bay in 1989 to continue the family legacy. Under Fred’s leadership, the company has grown while staying true to its founding values: excellence, integrity, and personalized service.

Young Automotive has earned a reputation as Door County’s Car Care Crew, specializing in Domestic, European, and Asian vehicles. The team includes ASE-certified technicians and advisors with over 132 years of combined experience, providing everything from routine maintenance and diagnostics to complex repairs. The shop is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and emphasizes continuous learning and advancement—management participates in annual training to keep practices current and ensure a workplace where team members thrive.
