Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Industrial Paint Technician to support the preparation, application, and finishing of protective coatings on industrial electrical transformer components and equipment. This role may be filled at varying levels based on experience and proficiency, with responsibilities increasing from foundational support to advanced, independent execution or Team Leadership.
The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality finishes, follows established procedures, and works effectively as part of a production or maintenance team. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and the ability to deliver consistent results in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- May help prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, blasting, or otherwise conditioning parts and equipment as required.
- Mix and apply industrial coatings, primers, sealers, and finishes according to specifications, drawings, and work instructions.
- Inspect surfaces and finished work for coverage, adhesion, thickness, texture, and overall quality.
- Operate and maintain painting equipment, spray systems, compressors, and related tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Read and interpret work orders, technical documents, and coating requirements to complete assigned tasks accurately.
- Monitor material usage and report supply needs, equipment issues, and production concerns to the appropriate team members.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying process enhancements and contributing to team goals.
- Works in a team-oriented environment and must be proficient at working well with others and with different personalities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in industrial painting, coating application, surface preparation, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn and follow detailed instructions, procedures, and quality standards.
- Familiarity with spray painting equipment, mixing techniques, and surface preparation methods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials and equipment as needed for the role.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
- Willingness to work in environments that may involve noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, or varying temperatures.
- Bilingual preferred but not required; English proficiency required
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience applying industrial, automotive, marine, or protective coatings. (NOT residential or construction)
- Knowledge of paint defects, correction methods, and finish evaluation.
- Experience using measuring tools for coating thickness or related quality checks.
- Supervisory experience required for Tier III placement
Level Expectations
Level I
- Performs basic surface preparation and painting tasks with supervision.
- Follows standard work instructions and learns equipment and process fundamentals.
- Supports experienced team members with masking, cleanup, and material handling.
Level II
- Completes a broader range of painting and coating tasks with limited supervision.
- Accurately prepares surfaces, mixes materials, and applies coatings to specification.
- Identifies common defects and performs basic corrective actions.
Level III
- Works independently on complex or high-precision coating assignments.
- Assists with process troubleshooting, quality improvement, and training less experienced team members.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of coatings, equipment operation, and finish standards.
- May serve as Team Lead
Work Environment
This position is typically performed in a manufacturing, production, repair, or industrial setting. The work may require standing for extended periods, repetitive motion, and the use of hand and power tools. Candidates should be comfortable working safely around machinery, chemicals, and specialized coatings equipment.

Competitive Pay: $16.00-$25.00 an hour, based on experience. Lead Differential of $1.00-$2.00 per hour
