Job DetailsJob Location: Bloomfield, CT 06002Position Type: Full TimeJob Shift: 2nd ShiftJob Category: DOT - Safety Sensitive PositionSUMMARY: The Paint Technician will perform alteration tasks on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Prioritize components for paint to ensure on time delivery requirements are met.

Remove identification and safety labels from components with use of a scraper/razor blade.

Prepare aircraft components for paint and coating processes, including cleaning, sanding, masking, stripping, and surface preparation.

Utilize PPE when handling chemicals and paint.

Properly mix paint components to manufacturer specifications.

Utilize a spray gun to paint primers and paint on aviation components per the manufacturers’ criteria.

Clean painting equipment daily.

Apply specialty coatings to aviation components as required.

Set digital oven timers and temperatures.

Monitor times closely to ensure proper curing time for paint is allowed.

Ensures up-to-date knowledge of all tools and proper use of equipment within assigned area of responsibility.

Document maintenance records of all repair work orders performed.

Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

2 years of relevant paint, coating, surface preparation, or refinishing experience.

Experience working with spray equipment, masking materials, primers, paints, and coatings.

Ability to read and follow written work instructions, technical documents, and process specifications

Flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.

Maintain an orderly and productive work environment.

Ability to function in fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality.

Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Basic computer operating skills (Word).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in an aviation, aerospace, MRO, manufacturing, automotive, or industrial paint environment.

Prior experience working in an FAA repair station or regulated aerospace environment.

Experience painting aircraft components, engine parts, or other precision aerospace parts.

OTHER QUALIFICATION:

The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and DOT drug testing.
