Automotive Technician Job Description The Automotive Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards while delivering accurate, timely, and highquality service. This role performs routine maintenance, inspections, and safety checks, uses modern diagnostic tools and advanced automotive technology, and works efficiently with hand and power tools. The technician collaborates closely with service advisors and fellow technicians in a teamoriented environment to ensure an excellent customer experience and a consistently productive workflow. Responsibilities Diagnose vehicle issues accurately using modern diagnostic tools and advanced automotive technology. Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements according to manufacturer guidelines. Complete brake repairs and other mechanical repairs, including inspection, adjustment, and replacement of components. Carry out comprehensive vehicle inspections and safety checks to identify needed repairs and maintenance. Repair and maintain vehicles to manufacturer standards, ensuring quality workmanship and reliability. Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to perform a wide range of automotive repairs. Work primarily on customer pay repairs, managing a workload that supports an average of 50-80 flag hours per week. Troubleshoot mechanical and automotive systems to identify root causes and recommend appropriate repair solutions. Document findings, recommended repairs, and completed work clearly and accurately for service advisors and customers. Collaborate with service advisors to review vehicle concerns, set repair expectations, and support clear customer communication. Work effectively with fellow technicians, sharing knowledge and assisting as needed to maintain a strong team environment. Follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines, including safe lifting and safe use of tools and equipment. Manage time effectively to complete repairs within promised timelines while maintaining high quality standards. Support a positive customer experience by delivering consistent, reliable work and maintaining a professional attitude. Essential Skills Automotive service or repair experience, with level of responsibility dependent on experience. Handson experience performing oil changes, brake jobs, and general automotive repairs in a shop environment. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools required for automotive repair. Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills for automotive systems. Ability to diagnose and repair vehicles using modern diagnostic tools and advanced automotive technology. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Strong communication skills to work effectively with service advisors, teammates, and customers. Positive, teamoriented attitude with a focus on collaboration and mutual support. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fastpaced shop. Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. overhead.
