DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will support vehicle and equipment operations by performing skilled maintenance, repairs, and inspections on a wide range of machinery. This role ensures that transportation equipment remains safe, dependable, and ready for field use. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

  • Skilled Repairs: Perform maintenance and repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, construction equipment, and powered hand tools
  • Preventive Maintenance: Complete oil changes, system checks, tune-ups, tire changes, and mechanical adjustments on vehicles and equipment
  • Safety Inspections: Conduct official safety and emissions inspections and complete required forms and documentation
  • Diesel Service: Work on diesel equipment by servicing filters, replacing parts, and repairing electrical, cooling, and driveline systems
  • Field Operations: Provide emergency road service and complete repairs at stockpile or field locations as needed
  • Equipment Records: Maintain accurate equipment records and obtain necessary parts and supplies to support repair work

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,841 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must obtain aCFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate and a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate, upon hire.
  • You must provide your own mechanics toolbox and basic tool set.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
