ABR Employment Services has an opening with a client in La Crosse, WI for a Paint Technician. This position is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing fiberglass pultruded products to meet quality and customer specifications while following all safety and environmental standards.
Position details:
Shift: 2nd shift
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:45pm-11:00 pm
Pay: $20-$21
What you'll do:
Prepare fiberglass products for painting (cleaning, sanding, masking, and surface inspection)
Mix paints, coatings, and catalysts according to specifications and manufacturer guidelines
Apply coatings using spray equipment, rollers, or other methods to meet finish and thickness standards
Monitor and maintain paint booth equipment, ventilation systems, and spray guns
Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance of paint room equipment
Inspect finished products for defects, consistency, and compliance with quality standards
Maintain accurate production and material usage records
Follow all safety procedures related to hazardous materials, ventilation, and required PPE
Properly handle, store, and dispose of paints and chemicals per policy and environmental regulations
Assist with material movement and staging of product as needed
Support continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives
Perform additional duties consistent with the role as assigned
What we're looking for:
Required
Previous painting experience
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to read work orders and follow detailed specifications
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Preferred
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Work environment / physical requirements
PPE required (may include safety glasses, gloves, cut-resistant sleeves, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, and respiratory protection)
Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator if required and comply with OSHA respiratory protection standards; Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are maintained and accessible
Standing/walking on concrete for extended periods (up to 8-12 hour shifts)
Frequent lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs with assistance
Push, pull, and maneuver heavy product carts or raw materials
Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, climbing steps/ladders, and reaching overhead
Frequent repetitive arm/wrist/hand movement at and above waist/shoulder height to apply coatings using spray equipment
Industrial setting with machinery, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, and heat
Regular exposure to resins, fiberglass reinforcements, chemical catalysts, solvents, dust, and process-related fumes; strong chemical odors and airborne fiberglass particles may be present
Strict adherence to machine guarding standards, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and Hazard Communication (SDS review and proper chemical handling)
Accurate documentation and adherence to inspection procedures are required for regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction
