OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of buses in the RGRTARegional fleet to standards set by company regulations for motor vehicleinspections and safety standards. Will report to the Manager of RegionalMaintenance - East.
Starting wage rate in accordance with the ATU collective bargainingagreement: $26.15/hr. Rate will increase to $28.30 after probationary period.
WORK HOURS: Monday through Friday. Shift will be determined between the hours of5:00 am and 6:30 pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Inspect and test revenue and non-revenue equipment at prescribed intervalsof time and usage or upon malfunction or breakdown.Disassemble, inspect, and replace worn or broken parts.Fit and adjust new or repaired parts.Test drive vehicles for diagnosis and completed repair.Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective actionto be taken.Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive service vehicle to disabled buses and make necessary repairs or changebuses.Repair and maintain bus radio, CAD/AVL, electronic sign and camera systems.Performs all other assigned duties related to the overall maintenance andrepairs of company's revenue and non-revenue vehicles.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED.Five (5) years of vehicle maintenance experience and vocational training inautomotive or diesel mechanics preferred but not required.Required to supply own hand tools.Clean and valid driver's license.English proficiency is required due to the safety-sensitive nature of thisposition. To ensure the safety of employees, customers and the general public,an employee holding this position must be able to read, speak and understand theEnglish language. This proficiency is an essential requirement of this job dueto the need to effectively communicate and collaborate with English speakingco-workers and supervisors regarding work and safety related matters and tasks.In addition, an employee in this role must be able to read and comprehendmaterials written in English such as, but not limited to, specifications,manuals and other job-related documents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Ability to diagnose and repair body electronic systems and engine electronicsystems.Ability to diagnose and repair air conditioning systems.Diesel experience would be helpful but not required.Experience in hydraulic brake and air brake systems. Must be capable ofreplacing, bleeding and adjusting brake shoes, pads, rotors, wheel bearings andcalipers.Experience in a variety of electrical systems including charging, cranking,lights, interlock and lift systems.Familiar with the use of tire equipment for mounting and balancing wheels.Use of torches and welding equipment needed at times.Must become familiar with the operation of our fleet maintenance softwaresystem and properly utilize it.Ability to receive correction and follow directions as well as beingself-managing.Must possess strong computer literacy skills.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral,diagrammatic, or scheduled form.Attendance record, disciplinary record, and work performance will all betaken into consideration in determining applicants' eligibility for thisposition.
