ASE or State Certified EV Mechanic
Location: GM Milford Proving Grounds
Number of Openings: 1, backfill
Shifts:
1st 7am - 330pm Monday - Friday. No overtime - very rare.
Environment: Clean garage, air-conditioned. Outdoor on the test track.
Travel:
2-4 times year
1-2 weeks at a time
Planned far in advance to Texas, Ohio, Arizona
Overview:
The ASC Certified Mechanic will perform work on development vehicles and/or components. Investigate mechanical/electrical issues on products and/or components and recommend corrective action. Work independently with guidance as needed from Team Leader/Group Leader. Work duties follow general practices and procedures and involve a definite degree of skill, accuracy and coordination.
This group supports the electrification vehicle builds, service testing and development during the vehicle development process for electric vehicles. Very rarely is there work on gas engines and can safely estimate that 90% of the focus is electric, full mechanic work, technical work, electrical work.
Motivator for this need is due to a backfill.
Daily Breakdown:
There are 10 other techs and engineering interaction. There is a lot of traffic in and out of the garage. This is a full service garage and will service every part of the vehicle front to back.:
Start the day checking emails,
every shift has a team lead, team lead will host a kickoff meeting in the morning, for new work or updates on where left off the day before.Some of the jobs will take 3 - 4 days to complete.

they can get help from the team lead if needed during their shift,
eventually will be able to source their own work and manage themselves.
Requirements
ASE or State Certified Mechanic - must have experience as a mechanic diagnosing issues.
Associates Degree or equivalent experience in an electrical-related field (circuit level, machine controls/maintenance, high voltage, commercial electrical, etc.) and/or related certifications
Bachelor's Degree preferred
3-5+ years of electrical and/or mechanical hands-on experience and capability
Welding and fabrication without clear direction.
Familiarity with any of the kinds of systems mentioned in the paragraph above
Must be comfortable working on 480VAC and 1000VDC systems, potentially while energized and understand associated risk reduction techniques
Be able to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
Must have broad troubleshooting skills
Must have a good driving record! This position involves driving corporate vehicles.
