Mechanic Municipal Garage - 2 Positions

Duties: Troubleshoot and perform repairs on equipment. Maintain and repair engines on trucks, heavy construction equipment, and other power equipment; repair ignitions, fuel tanks, and electrical systems; disassemble and overhaul engines and transmissions; replace various parts such as clutches on trucks and heavy construction equipment. Perform preventive maintenance work such as adjusting brakes and related work. Perform other related duties as assigned. Work hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Qualifications

: Must have at least five (5) years of experience in working as a mechanic; Commercial Inspector's License as properly qualified under 540 CMR 4.08(1)(h) with an air-conditioning refrigerant endorsement, valid motor equipment license - CDL. An Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification and proficiency of bilingual (Spanish/English) language preferred. Must have own personal hand tools. Must have some knowledge relative to welding and experience with gasoline engines. Ability to trouble shoot and repair late model automobiles with electric fuel injection and antilock brakes is necessary
