ASSISTANT SERVICE / RECONDITIONING MANAGER
Position Overview
This is a supervisory position within the Auto Boutique Texas Recon Center, responsible for overseeing a team that carries out daily vehicle reconditioning operations. The Reconditioning Manager oversees all aspects of the reconditioning process — from inspections and repairs to detailing and final quality checks. This role is accountable for maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and high associate engagement, while meeting quality, production, and cost objectives.
Job Description
The Reconditioning / Assistant Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire reconditioning process of used vehicles to ensure they meet the dealership’s retail-ready standards. This role involves managing workflow, supervising team members, maintaining quality control, and driving continuous improvement in efficiency and performance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of leading a team in a fast-paced automotive environment.
Working Hours
Monday – Saturday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Day Off: Every Wednesday
Duties and Responsibilities
Vehicle Reconditioning Oversight
Duties: Manage inspections, repairs, detailing, and cosmetic improvements on all used vehicles.
Responsibilities: Ensure all reconditioning work is completed to dealership standards and that vehicles are ready for sale quickly and reliably.
Team Supervision
Duties: Lead and coordinate the activities of mechanics, detailers, and related staff.
Responsibilities: Maintain a productive and motivated team, assign tasks efficiently, and resolve any workflow issues.
Mechanic Performance
Duties: Monitor repair speed, accuracy, and quality.
Responsibilities: Hold mechanics accountable to performance benchmarks and coach them to improve where needed.
Quality Control
Duties: Inspect completed vehicles to confirm all issues have been addressed.
Responsibilities: Prevent rework or customer complaints by ensuring high-quality outcomes before vehicle photos, pricing, or sales.
Process Improvement
Duties: Review reconditioning timelines, tools, and communication procedures.
Responsibilities: Propose and implement changes that reduce delays, cut costs, and improve vehicle turnaround time.
Compensation
Base Salary: $60,000 per year
Bonus Structure
Average Days in Recon (ADR)
Bonus is based on achieving lower ADR — tiers are not cumulative.
- 5.99 days or lower – $500
- 5.49 days or lower – $750
- 4.99 days or lower – $1,000
- 4.49 days or lower – $1,500
- 3.99 days or lower – $2,000
Sales Closing Ratio
Closing Ratio = (Cars Sold ÷ Showroom Walk-Ins)
- 45% – $500
- 46% – $750
- 47.5% – $1,000
- 49% – $1,500
- 50% or higher – $2,000
Total Cars Sold – Retail Bonus
- 375 to 399 cars sold – $500
- 400 to 449 cars sold – $1,000
- 450 or more cars sold – $1,500
Deductions
- –$150 for any negative review related to vehicle readiness, exterior/interior condition, or mechanical condition at time of sale
- –$150 if a customer arrives for a vehicle shown online but the car is not ready
- –$100 if a customer decides not to purchase due to the vehicle being dirty
