Job Description
The Service Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, rebuilding, and testing of Hagglunds products, primarily focusing on radial piston motors and related accessories. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Disassemble hydraulic motors and accessories using appropriate hand tools, power tools, and equipment with care and precision.
Diagnose issues and assess the condition of hydraulic motors, components, and accessories.
Inspect components to ensure proper functionality, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards.
Identify defective or worn parts and determine the need for replacement or repair.
Perform reassembly and installation of necessary components to restore motors to factory specifications.
Conduct thorough testing of motors and accessories to ensure performance meets established standards.
Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
Clean parts, workstations, and tools in accordance with cleanliness and maintenance protocols.
Follow established Operational Standards for Motor Repair with no deviation.
Consistently adhere to safety protocols and quality standards.
Work overtime or outside core business hours when needed to meet production or repair deadlines.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support shop operations.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Service Mechanic, Service Technician, or in a related mechanical role
At least 2 years of hands-on experience in hydraulics or a closely related field
Direct experience working with customers in a service environment
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer operations
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a frequent basis
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks over extended periods
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fluid Power, Mechanical Technology, or completion of a certified hydraulic service and repair program
ASE Certification
Certificate of Achievement from a federally recognized Millwright Program
Fluid Power Certification (IFPS or equivalent)
Experience working with SAP or other ERP systems
Solid mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of equipment and proper use of hand and power tools for repair, maintenance, and installation
Proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed, dimensioned, and assembly drawings
Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
Proven ability to build and maintain effective customer relationships
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Other Requirements:
Willingness to travel to customer sites, job locations, and service centers as needed (travel may include air and car travel)
Valid driver's license and ability to be insured under company vehicle policies, possession of a valid passport preferred
Potential for occasional international travel
