Job Description

A private investor of vintage and modern cars is seeking a well-trained and very detail oriented mechanic.  The person must have a background in the restoration and/or maintenance and repair of older vehicle technology. Skill set emphasis must be on, but not limited to, vintage Alfa Romero, Ferrari, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Jaguar, some American made cars and others as well as modern Ferrari, McLaren, Pagani, Porsche and others.  

For vintage vehicle work, the following skill set is a must:

  • Carburetor rebuilding/tuning/jetting
  • Braking systems
  • Electrical expertise
  • Removal and installation of engines
  • Removal and installation of transmissions
  • Removal and installation of differentials

For modern vehicle work, the following skill set is a must:

  • Perform normal/routine maintenance
  • Diagnose and perform technical research of maintenance issues
  • Coordination with manufacture’s service facilities and technical staff

In all cases, work must be performed with ownership and pride, being efficient and accurate.  Safety of the vehicle is the upmost priority.  Must have the ability to manage a work schedule, meeting expectations on completion of projects.  Must have the skill to road test the vehicle, determine if further repairs or maintenance is required and carry out such work to completion.  Must check the quality of your own work and document the work performed.  Must keep a clean and organized work area, including all tool boxes and workbenches.  Be a skilled welder and fabricator.  Be well oriented to work independently, self-motivated to learn about new systems.  While tools are present at the shop, we welcome the candidate to have their own complimentary set of tools.  The candidate must have a proven track record with references.

The candidate will work with an accomplished Sr. Mechanic and should be immediately prepared and have the skills to fulfill investigatory inspections upon the arrival of cars, ensure their safety, provide reports to include diagnosis recommendations of repair or improvement and then have the ability and follow through to carry out all approved recommendations.

There is no administrative support.  Therefore, the candidate must also be self-motivated to perform their own research using the internet and other resources for the finding and ordering of parts and supplies.  The candidate will also need to maintain worksheets using Excel and other computer software to track projects and maintain records of annual maintenance, miles, driving records, etc.
