RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: % TIME 1. Perform body damage repairs on vehicles including replacing panels, removing dents, installing glass and preparing parts for painting; perform major vehicle frame repair and adjustments; repair or replace vehicle suspension. 80% 2. Participate in the inspection of vehicles for body and paint damage and participate in preparing associated vehicle damage estimates. 10% 3. Order vehicle body parts and supplies to maintain and update department inventory; coordinate the acquisition and disposal of waste products. 5% 4. Job Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and Skill · Thorough knowledge of auto body repair procedures for vehicles. · General knowledge of automobile parts and operation. · Ability to negotiate with vendors on materials and supplies. · Ability to operate mechanical tools commonly used in auto body and frame repair, including frame pulling and welding equipment. · Ability to use and read a tape rule. · Knowledge and skill in welding and welding safety. · Good oral and written communication skills. · Ability to prioritize tasks. · Ability to work independently. · Ability to identify problems in body and frame repair and effectively determine a plan of resolution. Required Education/Experience · High School Diploma or Equivalent; Vocational training or the equivalent in Auto Body Repair and Fra · Three years of auto body and frame/suspension work experience. · ASE and/or I-CAR certification preferred; Valid driver's license as required by state.
