Job Title: Collision Estimator / Appraiser

Description:
Estimator: Primary Responsibilities You are responsible for the vehicle from take in to delivery. Assist in vehicle take in. Go over the vehicle and inform CSR as to the proper authorization needed: Repair Authorization or Tear-Down Authorization (Level I, II, III). Assist CSR in obtaining authorization if needed. Have the CSR lock the Tear-Down estimate in the estimating system as Estimate of Record once authorization is obtained. Take initial Visual Damage Notes and Photo Document Damage prior to Tear-Down. Arrange Tear-Down if necessary. Gather supplemental damage information from tear-down team (tech, painter, other). Write a full and complete estimate in the estimating system. If an insurance adjuster provided an estimate, have the CSR input their estimate into the estimating system and import it as Sup1 into the management system, then lock it when matched. Now the estimator enters Damage Information from the Tear-Down as Sup2. This is our initial Damage Authorization estimate. Work with any insurance company inspectors, going over the car and your complete estimate, explaining all necessary repairs, and OEM repair procedures. Assign the work, place the parts order, and go over the vehicle and estimate with the tech and parts manager. Work starts when necessary parts arrive. Track all work, update file and CSR. Check every vehicle with the assigned tech twice daily as well as any needed or pending parts with the parts manager. Document all transactions both within the shop and with outside entities. Communicate daily with the CSR as to the status of the vehicle, and have the CSR make any needed contact with customers and insurance companies. Schedule and arrange any needed inspections with the CSR. If needed handle any supplements. Make sure any supplements are full and complete. Have the CSR obtain the needed authorization for all supplemental work prior to continuing with the work. Have CSR report back to you when authorization is obtained. QC throughout the repair, as well as the final check before CSR is notified that the vehicle is completed. QC check at a minimum: after body prior to paint; after welding prior to seam sealing; after paint prep prior to painting; after paint and prior to unmasking; after polishing before reassembly; Assist in vehicle delivery. Go over the finished vehicle with the customer and insure that they are aware of all work performed and are satisfied with the repair.
